Presidential Debate
The final debate was a good recap of the previous debates. First and foremost, my most prominent observation was that McCain was mistaken in regards to a lot of Obama's stances. Basically, in regards to health care, Obama wants to set up a huge pool of money that you can buy into and then the money will be divided among everyone based on need, whereas McCain wants to make it more dynamic and give out a 5000 dollar tax refund for health care. As far as abortion is concerned, McCain is unrealistically against abortion and wants to ban it in all forms and overturn Roe v. Wade. Obama agrees with Roe v. Wade and wants to raise awareness to reduce abortions but leave the option open saying "no one is pro abortion, it is always a painful choice." Obama wants to give a $4000 credit to all college students to aid in their payments so long as they complete some sort of community service. He also says that he wants to have more charter school to raise competition, but McCain says that money is not the answer and we need a lot of reform in the place of more money. They both want to fire bad teachers and increase competition among schools and teachers but Obama was the one who said we should raise salaries for teachers. They both want to pour money into alternative fuel sources, McCain seemed to have a more of a structured plan including wind turbines and nuclear power, but wants to do some off-shore drilling first. Once again I am completely torn because I agree wholeheartedly with about half of both campaigns and despise the rest of their plans. well, now that you know the facts, "Go vote now, it'll make you feel big and strong."
